Efforts Underway to Address Backlog in Chhattisgarh High Court

TFP Bureau Raipur, June 6, 2024: Under the direction of Chief Justice Shri Ramesh Sinha, the Chhattisgarh High Court is undertaking a comprehensive review of pending judicial cases. This initiative targets writs, criminal appeals, criminal revisions, contempt cases, and other prolonged legal matters.

The review process involves 40 judicial officers from the District Courts of Bilaspur, Raipur, and Durg, along with 36 officers and employees from the High Court establishment. On the 21st day of this effort, Chief Justice Sinha conducted a surprise inspection via video conferencing to assess the progress. He also reviewed ongoing infrastructure renovations at the High Court.

With the High Court on summer vacation from May 13 to June 7, 2024, Chief Justice Sinha has prioritized the physical verification of infructuous and disposed cases through digital scanning. These efforts aim to streamline case management and enhance judicial efficiency.

In alignment with directives from the Hon’ble Supreme Court, a system has been implemented to identify and expedite the disposal of infructuous cases, ensuring a more efficient judicial process.
