TFP Bureau, Raipur, June 11, 2024: Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma visited the Balodabazar Collectorate at around 1:30 pm to assess the damage from the vandalism and arson carried out by protesters at the Joint District Office on Monday. Accompanying him were Food Minister Dayal Das Baghel and Revenue Minister Tankaram Verma. Sharma received a detailed briefing on the incident from the Collector and Superintendent of Police and inspected the affected areas, including the District Panchayat, Family Court, and Janpad Panchayat Office.
Sharma expressed deep sorrow over the incident and instructed officials to take strict action against those responsible. He noted the extensive damage, including numerous vehicles and critical government property, and emphasized the impact on poor people, officers, and employees. Sharma condemned the destruction, stating that such acts harm the entire society and disrespect the legacy of revered figures like Baba Guru Ghasidas, a symbol of peace.
Last month, damage to the Jaitkhambh in Amar Gufa led to community dissatisfaction with the police investigation, prompting a judicial inquiry as instructed by the Chief Minister. Sharma indicated that anti-social elements infiltrated a crowd that had gathered to express gratitude to the Chief Minister for ordering the inquiry, leading to the recent violence. The investigation is ongoing, and strict measures will be taken against the culprits.
During the visit, Sharma was accompanied by IG Amresh Mishra, Sanjeev Shukla, Collector KL Chauhan, SP Sadanand Kumar, and several public representatives and eminent citizens.
