TFP Bureau, Raipur; June 12, 2024: The Chhattisgarh State Tax (GST) Department has unveiled a pioneering “e-Scrutiny” portal, leveraging advanced information technology to enhance the efficiency and transparency of tax scrutiny and adjudication. Initiated by Shri Rajat Bansal, Commissioner of State Tax, Chhattisgarh, this digital platform was developed by the Diary Room and Computer Room of the State Tax Headquarters in Nava Raipur.
The “e-Scrutiny” portal is designed for online reporting of actions taken under Sections 61, 73, and 74 of the GST Act by field office officers. Initially, the “Scrutiny Module” has been launched, with the “Adjudication Module” currently under development. This digital system not only facilitates the monitoring of departmental officers’ activities but also ensures that their monthly diaries are submitted online, enabling data analytics to optimize revenue.
Moreover, the “e-Scrutiny” module aims to address and resolve practical issues faced by state traders, thereby enhancing their experience and compliance.
The need for such a system became apparent after the State Tax Commissioner identified instances where multiple officers issued notices to the same businessman for the same period. To prevent such overlaps and improve administrative efficiency, the “e-Scrutiny” module has been swiftly implemented.
This initiative marks a significant step towards modernizing tax administration in Chhattisgarh, ensuring a more streamlined, transparent, and effective GST process for both the department and the state’s business community.
