BALCO Organizes Educational Tour for Students Following District Administration Guidelines

School children Explore BALCO Plant and Chotia Coal Mine to Enhance Industrial Knowledge

TFP Bureau, Korba; June 12, 2024: Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO), a Vedanta Group company, organized an educational tour for school students to its plant premises and Chotia coal mine, following the guidelines of the district administration. This initiative aimed to broaden students’ knowledge and provide a comprehensive understanding of the country’s industrial development.

Guided by Korba District Magistrate Ajit Vasant, approximately 240 students from the district participated in the educational tour. The students, divided into different teams, had the opportunity to learn about various aspects of engineering and science through firsthand observation. Such tours are expected to foster scientific, technical, and innovative thinking among students, enhancing their interest in education by taking learning beyond the classroom.

During the visit, students were taken on a comprehensive tour of the BALCO plant, where they were given detailed explanations of the company’s key operations. The students engaged enthusiastically with plant representatives, gaining insights into the smelter, cast house, and power plant operations. Officials from various BALCO units provided in-depth information on production processes, productivity, and the company’s working style.

Rajesh Kumar, Chief Executive Officer and Director of BALCO, emphasized the significance of such visits, stating,

“Youth are the future of our country. This visit will help develop an understanding of industrial operations among the youth. Exposure to new technology will inspire students and encourage them to pursue careers in science and technology.”

Balraj Kashyap, Principal of Government High School Madwani Development Block Kartala, District Korba, highlighted the educational value of the tour, noting that it is essential for the intellectual development of students. He appreciated the detailed information provided to students regarding aluminium production, storage, and other educational aspects at BALCO. All questions posed by students and teachers were answered comprehensively.

Students expressed their excitement about the visit, stating that it provided them with valuable insights into aluminium and electricity production. They also learned about teamwork and mutual cooperation within an industrial setting. Additionally, some students visited the Chotia coal mine, where they observed the open coal mining process and modern technical machinery, which they described as an unprecedented experience.

This educational tour is expected to have a lasting impact on students, equipping them with knowledge and a deeper understanding of industrial operations and new technologies, thus preparing them for future success in technical fields.
