TFP Bureau, Raipur; June 16, 2024: The Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee has raised serious concerns over alleged irregularities in the NEET examination, calling for its cancellation and a re-examination. State Congress Communication Department President, Sushil Anand Shukla, questioned the silence of BJP leaders on the matter and demanded a thorough investigation by the CBI.
Shukla accused the BJP of neglecting the integrity of the NEET examination, which has led to a loss of faith among over 25 lakh students nationwide. He drew comparisons to past actions where the BJP pushed for a CBI investigation into the Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission (PSC) based on unsubstantiated claims, suggesting a double standard in their approach.
“Why is there no CBI investigation into the NEET exam scam?” Shukla asked. “Due to the negligence and corruption of the BJP’s Modi government, students have lost faith in the NEET process. To restore credibility, strict action must be taken against those responsible, and the exam should be cancelled and re-conducted.”
Shukla highlighted several anomalies in the NEET results, including an unprecedented increase in perfect scores.
“In 2020, only two students scored a perfect 720, three in 2021, none in 2022, and two in 2023. However, this year, 67 students achieved a perfect score, marking a 5625 percent increase in toppers compared to last year. How is this not suspicious?”
He also pointed out the issues surrounding grace marks awarded to 1563 students due to a dispute over answers, questioning the fairness towards students who did not take their grievances to court. Shukla cited a specific incident where eight students from a single examination center in Jhajjar, Haryana, scored perfect marks, despite one having previously failed the 12th grade.
Further allegations include irregularities in the allocation of examination centers and instances of bribery. Shukla claimed that 16 students from Odisha, Karnataka, and Jharkhand were given centers in Godhra, Gujarat, far beyond the permissible distance. It was revealed that Tushar Bhatt, the main accused, had admitted to taking Rs. 10 lakhs from each of these students to facilitate their passing of the NEET exam.
Shukla also mentioned that the NEET question paper was leaked on Telegram a day before the exam, and evidence of this was ignored by the examination authorities.
“Despite clear evidence, why did the examination agency deny any irregularities?” he asked. “The Congress Party demands the cancellation of the entire examination, a re-conduction, and strict punishment for those involved.”
The press release concluded with a call for transparency and accountability, urging the government to take decisive action to maintain the integrity of the educational examination system and ensure justice for the affected students.
