Law and Order Must Not Deteriorate, Declares Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai

CM Reviews Home Department, Emphasizes Police Accountability and Resources

TFP Bureau, Raipur; June 16, 2024: Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai has asserted that law and order in the state must be maintained at all costs, warning of strict accountability for any lapses. Emphasizing a robust and sensitive police presence, he underscored the importance of public trust in law enforcement.

During a review meeting of the Home and Jail Departments at his residence, CM Sai, accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Shri Vijay Sharma, Chief Secretary Shri Amitabh Jain, Director General of Police Shri Ashok Juneja, and other senior officials, highlighted several critical directives. He mandated stringent measures against drug abuse, gambling, and betting, and called for clear accountability at the district level to curb illegal activities.

The Chief Minister reiterated the state’s commitment to fighting Maoist terrorism, noting significant police successes in this campaign. He assured that funds for the Niyyad Nellanar Scheme, aimed at developing villages within five kilometers of police camps, would be ample to meet objectives.

To bolster police effectiveness, new Ajaak police stations will be established in newly formed districts, and the recruitment and promotion processes for vacant posts will be expedited. The state will also enhance police training programs to ensure a strong and efficient force.

Deputy Chief Minister Sharma emphasized the need for a standardized operating procedure to manage law and order situations effectively. Senior police officers will conduct district reviews to ensure compliance and readiness.

In the meeting, DGP Shri Ashok Juneja reported a decrease in crime rates. He noted the establishment of women police stations, cyber police stations, and an Anti Human Trafficking Bureau. Furthermore, significant efforts have been made to protect women and children, including successful interventions in cases of missing children and human trafficking.

The Chief Minister’s directives also include the establishment of five new women police stations and four new cyber police stations in Raigarh, Korba, Rajnandgaon, and Kabirdham. He assured that resources would not be lacking in strengthening the police force and enhancing public safety.
