TFP Bureau, Raipur, June 16, 2024: State Finance Minister Shri OP Choudhary emphasized the importance of helmet use as a social responsibility while attending a helmet distribution program organized by Raigarh District Police. Concurrently, he also inaugurated new sports facilities at Raigarh Stadium, demonstrating his commitment to the city’s development and public welfare.

During the helmet distribution event, part of Raigarh Police’s traffic safety campaign, Shri Choudhary highlighted the critical role helmets play in saving lives. He urged citizens to recognize the dangers of driving without helmets and to adopt helmet use to protect themselves and their families.

“Driving without a helmet is a major reason for fatalities in road accidents,” he stated, “and we must change this careless behavior to avoid unnecessary tragedies.”

Raigarh District Police, aiming to enhance traffic rule awareness and reduce road accident deaths, is distributing helmets to over five thousand individuals. This initiative, supported by local industries and social organizations, is part of a broader effort to foster responsible driving habits.

In addition to the safety campaign, Shri Choudhary inaugurated two outdoor badminton courts and a box cricket ground at Raigarh Stadium, a project completed at a cost of Rs 37.75 lakh. These new facilities aim to provide the youth and sports enthusiasts with better opportunities to engage in physical activities.

Presiding over the inauguration ceremony, Finance Minister Choudhary expressed optimism about Raigarh’s development, emphasizing community cooperation. “Raigarh will develop with the cooperation of all,” he said, adding that the new sports facilities would significantly benefit local sports lovers.

The event, attended by Raigarh MP Shri Radheshyam Rathia, Collector Shri Kartikeya Goyal, and Superintendent of Police Shri Divyang Kumar Patel, saw Shri Choudhary participating in both badminton and cricket games. He also announced that the online slot booking for the box cricket ground would be free and on a first-come, first-served basis.

The open badminton courts and the box cricket ground, built at a combined cost of Rs 37.75 lakh, are part of a larger plan to construct similar facilities at eight locations in the city. This initiative is expected to foster a robust sports culture in Raigarh, enhancing the skills and opportunities for local youth and sports aficionados.

The dual focus on promoting traffic safety and developing sports infrastructure underscores Shri Choudhary’s holistic approach to community welfare and urban development in Raigarh.
