Self-Help Groups Funded by DMF to Showcase Products at Dilli Haat for Two Months

Initiative Highlights SHGs’ Contributions to Society and Development Activities

TFP Bureau, New Delhi, June 16, 2024: Self-Help Groups (SHGs) funded by the District Mineral Foundation (DMF) and corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives of mining companies will exhibit their products at Dilli Haat for the next two months. This initiative aims to raise public awareness about the significant contributions of SHGs to society and foster a positive community spirit.

In the mining sector, SHGs are increasingly utilized as platforms for development activities funded by agencies and government bodies. This week, Kosala Livelihood and Social Foundation, supported by HINDALCO, Unnati Maha Sangh, backed by BALCO, and Bajrangbali Aajivika Self Help Group, funded by the Sonbhadra district in Uttar Pradesh under DMF, are showcasing their products.

Smt. Farida M. Naik, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Mines, inaugurated these stalls today. She interacted with the SHGs, praising the efforts of women SHGs from DMF Sonbhadra and Unnati Maha Sangh for their commendable work.

The Ministry of Mines, through the 2015 amendment to the Mines & Minerals (Development & Regulation) (MMDR) Act, established DMFs in all mining-affected districts. The primary objective of DMFs is to benefit the people and areas impacted by mining operations.

Various districts have established SHGs among tribal communities, producing local goods. The Ministry of Mines regularly invites SHGs funded by DMF to display their diverse products at events like Dilli Haat. These products include handicrafts, millet products, Tasar silk items, coir products, bamboo furniture, dairy products, dry eatables, food masala, and edible oils, showcasing the rich cultural heritage and entrepreneurial spirit of these communities.
