TFP Bureau, Raipur, June 19, 2024: In a significant initiative led by Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, the Chhattisgarh government is conducting an extensive geo-referencing and digitization project for cadastral maps. This project aims to create an error-free and digital database of land records across the state, covering over 20,000 Gram Panchayats.
Using satellite imagery and Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS) surveys, the geo-referencing work has been completed in 4,375 villages across nine districts, including Mahasamund, Dhamtari, Kabirdham, Mungeli, Bilaspur, Janjgir-Champa, Sakti, Balodabazar, and Korba. This advanced technology allows for precise marking of even the smallest land parcels using their longitude and latitude.
Chief Minister Shri Sai has approved the use of this technology, with budget provisions already made for its implementation. The project will survey the entire state, marking village boundaries on satellite images to ensure accurate revenue records. Additionally, it will enable digital crop surveys through a mobile app.
The benefits of this project are extensive. It will help resolve land-related disputes accurately, reduce settlement error correction cases, and minimize court cases related to demarcation, transfer, and partition. Furthermore, it will accelerate the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Gati Shakti Yojana and assist in marking assets of various departments such as Agriculture, Panchayat and Rural Development, School Education, Health and Family Welfare, Public Works, and Water Resources.
Detailed guidelines have been issued by the Revenue Department for the land survey verification process, with the Collector authorized as the Survey Officer. Sub-Survey Officers, including Sub-Divisional Officers Revenue and Assistant Survey Officers Tehsildar, will work under the Survey Officer’s guidance. Revenue Inspectors and Patwaris, under the supervision of the Collector, SDM, and Tehsildar, will verify and rectify discrepancies between maps and actual land sites.
Patwaris will match 15-20 undisputed ground control points found in both Khasra maps and satellite images. The Khasra numbers in the geo-referenced maps will be aligned with the original Patwari maps, ensuring the record area and GIS area of each Khasra are consistent. Any overlaps or gaps in boundaries with adjoining villages will be checked and resolved to ensure accuracy.
