TFP Bureau, Raipur, June 22, 2024: In a significant show of public interest, the Environmental Protection Board successfully conducted a public hearing on Saturday for the proposed 1600 MW expansion of Adani Power Limited in Tilda Block. Held at the playground near the Government School in Village Tarashiv, the hearing was led by Raipur Collector and included thousands of participants from 14 surrounding villages.
Key officials, including Additional Collector of Raipur Devendra Patel, SDM Prakash Tandon, and Regional Officer of the Chhattisgarh Environmental Protection Board Prakash Rabde, were present. R.N. Shukla, Head of the Environmental Department at Adani Power Limited, provided project details.
Villagers eagerly voiced their support, with 90% backing the expansion of two 800 MW units. Local leaders such as former Tilda Janpad President Dau Devvrat Nayak, Raikheda Sarpanch Mrs. Sukwati Kurre, and various community representatives highlighted the potential for regional development and employment opportunities.
Chameli Rajak from Village Khamaria praised the developmental works initiated by Adani Power, particularly in education. Sarpanch Association President Mithlesh Sahu and Tarashiv Sarpanch Manish Kumar Verma emphasized the benefits of the company’s social engagement activities, which have facilitated job and self-employment opportunities, and promoted health, education, and livelihood initiatives in nearby villages.
Adani Power Limited, which has operated two supercritical technology units totaling 1370 MW in Tilda Block for the past eight years, continues to run various community programs through the Adani Foundation, benefiting over 37,000 residents across 14 villages.
Station Head Mr. Shrikant Vaidya reaffirmed the company’s commitment to social responsibility and development activities, thanking the villagers, administrative officers, and stakeholders for their participation in the public hearing.
