TFP Bureau, Raipur, June 27, 2024: In a press briefing, former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel expressed grave concerns about the current state of affairs in Chhattisgarh as the assembly session approaches. Baghel highlighted multiple issues, including law and order, educational disruptions, and agricultural challenges, questioning the current government’s competence.
Baghel began by addressing the lack of an Education Minister during the ongoing education session, pointing out the closure of schools due to the absence of teachers and infrastructure issues. He emphasized the pressing need for government intervention to address these educational shortcomings.
One of the major points Baghel raised was the arson incident in Balodabazar and the alarming increase in murders and rapes, particularly in the Kawardha district. He criticized the Home Minister for the deteriorating law and order situation, calling it the session’s most significant issue.
With the monsoon session on the horizon, Baghel also brought attention to the delay in the monsoon, inadequate supply of fertilizers and seeds, and the poor condition of farming resources. He noted that these agricultural issues would be a primary focus during the session.
Baghel criticized the government’s decision to rename schemes initiated in honor of prominent figures such as Dr. Khubchand Baghel, Veer Narayan Singh, and Mahendra Karma. He lamented the discontinuation of beneficial schemes like the Tendu leaf collector insurance scheme, which had been started under his administration.
Baghel further condemned the ongoing power outages, especially in rural areas, and the arbitrary increases in electricity bills. He accused the government of failing to manage essential services and resources, leading to widespread discontent.
The former Chief Minister also addressed issues related to the distribution of substandard seeds and the negligence in lifting paddy from collection centers, resulting in significant losses due to spoilage. He highlighted the unfair treatment of cooperative society employees who are being threatened with compensation demands for these losses.
Baghel did not spare criticism for the handling of public safety, mentioning incidents of cow smuggling and inadequate law enforcement leading to increased criminal activities, including the heart-wrenching murder in Pendra and the theft of ancient idols in Sirpur.
As the assembly session nears, Baghel’s remarks set a contentious tone, reflecting the numerous issues the opposition intends to raise, questioning the current administration’s ability to govern effectively and calling for immediate action to address the state’s critical problems.
