TFP Bureau, Raipur;June 29, 2024: The National Commission for Backward Classes Chairman, Shri Hansraj Gangaram Ahir, lauded Chhattisgarh’s efforts in enhancing educational opportunities for backward classes during a review meeting held today in Nava Raipur. The meeting, hosted at Naveen Vishram Grih, saw the participation of key state officials including Chief Secretary Shri Amitabh Jain and Director General of Police Shri Ashok Juneja.
Shri Ahir specifically praised the Prayas Residential School and the UPSC coaching program implemented by the Chhattisgarh Government. He emphasized the importance of effectively implementing both state and central government schemes aimed at benefitting backward classes, stressing their right to reservations in both private and government institutions.
Highlighting the role of the state’s Commission for Backward Classes, Shri Ahir underscored the significance of ensuring that beneficiaries have access to comprehensive information about various income generation opportunities. He also noted that out of 95 backward castes listed in Chhattisgarh, 67 are included in the central list. Shri Ahir recommended submitting a proposal to the National Commission for Backward Classes to include additional castes from the state in the central list.
The meeting was attended by National Commission for Backward Classes Secretary Shri Ashish Upadhyay, Advisor Shri Rajesh Kumar, and several state officials including Additional Chief Secretary Shri Manoj Pingua, Secretary General Administration Shri Anbalagan P., and Director Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Department Shri Narendra Dugga. The presence of senior officials from departments like Skill Development, Medical Education, and Social Welfare underscored the comprehensive review of backward class initiatives in Chhattisgarh.
