TFP Bureau, Raipur, July 1, 2024: Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee President Deepak Badge condemned the current state government for failing to protect tribal citizens, following the tragic death of a tribal child. Speaking at Rajiv Bhavan, Badge highlighted numerous incidents indicating the deteriorating law and order situation under the administration of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai.
Badge remarked, “It is unfortunate that a tribal child was beaten to death under the rule of a tribal Chief Minister. The recent murder of 21-year-old Mangal Muraya, a tribal student from Lohandiguda, Bastar, in Raipur, is a glaring example of the state’s failure to protect its most vulnerable.”
The Congress leader criticized the state’s administration, stating that SP and Collector offices are being burned, and incidents of mob lynching are rising. “The government boasts of good governance while the reality is that even police stations are not safe,” Badge said.
Muraya had recently enrolled in a private college in Naya Raipur. He was reportedly beaten to death after asking for directions and a lift. His attackers allegedly stole his ATM card and killed him when he refused to provide the PIN. Badge described this as “Jungle Raj,” where tribal students face deadly consequences for minor requests.
The Congress President pointed out the broader issues plaguing the state, including rising crime rates and an inactive police force. He accused the Chief Minister and the Home Minister of being ineffectual and confused, leading to a sense of lawlessness among citizens.
He highlighted several grave incidents, including:
– A recent murder in Raipur.
– Numerous reports of rape and murder in hotels.
– More than 300 rapes, 80 gang rapes, and over 200 murders within six months.
– Numerous incidents of theft, robbery, and chain snatching.
– Increased Naxalite activities.
“Under the Sai government, crimes against women have surged, and criminals operate without fear. The police have become so ineffective that they are even attacked in their stations,” Badge said.
Badge criticized the state government for filing lenient charges against criminals, accusing it of protecting wrongdoers instead of ensuring justice. He cited the burning of a Baga tribe family and the trafficking of women as further evidence of the government’s failures.
The State Congress President announced plans to protest the current administration by burning effigies of the Chief Minister and Home Minister in all district headquarters on July 2. This demonstration, organized by NSUI, aims to highlight the poor law and order situation in Chhattisgarh.
“The BJP government’s failure is evident from the daily serious incidents of kidnapping, murder, and mob lynching. The murder of Mangal Muraya is a tragic reminder of the lawlessness under this administration,” Badge concluded.
