TFP Bureau, Raipur, July 2, 2024: Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has assured that the Central Government will provide full support to Chhattisgarh in promoting maize and soybean cultivation. This announcement came during a high-level meeting held at Krishi Bhavan in New Delhi, where discussions focused on enhancing the agriculture sector in Chhattisgarh.
Shri Chouhan, accompanied by Chhattisgarh Agriculture Minister Shri Ramvichar Netam, reviewed the status of various agricultural initiatives, including the promotion of pulses, oilseeds, and horticulture crops. The Union Minister emphasized the Central Government’s commitment to the welfare of farmers under Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s leadership, pledging continued assistance to Chhattisgarh’s agriculture sector.
Comprehensive Support and Future Plans
The meeting covered several key schemes and programs such as the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, National Agricultural Development Scheme, and the Oil Palm Mission. Shri Chouhan assured that the Central Government would address any issues faced by Chhattisgarh farmers, ensuring no disruption in support at the federal level.
Union Minister Chouhan highlighted the potential for expanding maize and soybean cultivation in Chhattisgarh. He instructed officials to ensure the adequate availability of fertilizers, seeds, and other inputs for the Kharif season, addressing concerns about the shortage of DAP fertilizer.
State and Central Collaboration
Chhattisgarh Agriculture Minister Shri Ramvichar Netam proposed the expansion of horticulture and maize cultivation, which received approval during the meeting. He also emphasized the need to promote soybean crops due to their potential in the region. Minister Netam provided detailed updates on the state’s efforts regarding the availability, storage, and distribution of fertilizers and seeds, and shared information about various public welfare schemes benefiting farmers.
Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Secretary Shri Sanjeev Chopra and senior officials from the Agriculture and Horticulture departments of both the Center and the State attended the meeting. This collaboration underscores a concerted effort to boost Chhattisgarh’s agricultural sector and ensure the welfare of its farmers.
