Lieutenant General NS Raja Subramani Assumes Role as Vice Chief of Army Staff

Distinguished Career Spanning Over 37 Years; Expert in Operational Dynamics on Western and Northern Borders

TFP Bureau New Delhi; July 2, 2024: Lieutenant General NS Raja Subramani has taken over as the Vice Chief of Army Staff. Prior to this appointment, he served as the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Central Command in Lucknow.

Commissioned into The Garhwal Rifles in December 1985, Lieutenant General Subramani is a graduate of the prestigious National Defence Academy and Indian Military Academy. He is also an alumnus of the Joint Services Command Staff College in Bracknell, UK, and the National Defence College in New Delhi. His academic credentials include a Master of Arts from King’s College London and an MPhil in Defence Studies from Madras University.

With a distinguished career spanning over 37 years, Lieutenant General Subramani has served in various command, staff, and instructional roles across diverse conflict and terrain profiles. He has extensive knowledge and understanding of the operational dynamics on both the Western and Northern Borders.

In recognition of his exemplary service to the nation, he has been awarded the Param Vishisht Seva Medal, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, Sena Medal, and Vishisht Seva Medal.
