TFP Bureau, Raipur; July 4, 2024: The Raipur-Balodabazar National Highway is set to be upgraded to a four-lane road following the approval of Rs 1,494 crore from the Ministry of Surface Transport, Government of India. This development aims to ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity.

Revenue Minister Shri Tank Ram expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai, Union Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari, and Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao for their support in securing the funding. He also extended his congratulations and best wishes to the residents of the area.

On the directive of Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai, Revenue Minister Shri Tank Ram Verma held discussions with Union Surface Transport Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari regarding the road’s upgradation. Shri Gadkari agreed to the proposal, resulting in the approval of Rs 1,494 crore for the project. The project will be executed in two phases: the first phase involves upgrading the road from Vidhansabha Raipur to 53.1 km at a cost of Rs 844 crore, and the second phase covers the stretch from 53.1 km to 85.6 km, costing Rs 650 crore.

The Raipur-Balodabazar National Highway 130B currently experiences significant traffic pressure, largely due to the presence of major industries, including cement plants, along the route. Currently a two-lane road, its expansion to four lanes will alleviate traffic congestion, facilitate smoother travel between Raipur and Balodabazar, and reduce the number of accidents on this busy highway.
