No Shortage of Funds for Urban Development: Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao

Foundation stones laid for 94 projects worth Rs 15 crore; officials emphasize commitment to urban progress

TFP Bureau, Raipur; July 8, 2024: Deputy Chief Minister and Urban Administration and Development Minister Arun Sao has assured ample funding for urban development during a ceremony where he laid the foundation stone and performed bhoomipujan for 94 development projects worth Rs 14.73 crore. The projects, aimed at enhancing the wards within the Municipal Corporation area under the Beltara Assembly constituency, were sanctioned under the 15th Finance Commission. The event, held at the District Sports Complex in Bilaspur, was presided over by MLA Sushant Shukla.

The approved projects primarily focus on constructing CC roads, drains, and installing street lights, reflecting the proactive efforts of both Deputy Chief Minister Sao and MLA Shukla. During the event, they also participated in the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign by planting neem saplings at the sports complex.

“For the first time in the last five years, we have received a substantial amount of around Rs 15 crore for development projects,” said Deputy Chief Minister Sao. “Our government is committed to the progress of urban areas, ensuring there are no shortages of funds for city development. All projects will be executed in line with public expectations. Recently, I met with Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Shri Manohar Lal Khattar regarding the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in urban areas. We anticipate additional allocations soon, enabling eligible individuals to obtain concrete housing.”

He encouraged participation in the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign and stressed the importance of nurturing trees as they grow.

MLA Shri Sushant Shukla, presiding over the event, emphasized that Deputy Chief Minister Sao understands the city’s challenges and assured that all issues would gradually be resolved, significantly improving the city’s condition.

Municipal Corporation Commissioner Shri Amit Kumar delivered the welcome address and presented a report during the program. The event was attended by various dignitaries, including Leader of Opposition in Bilaspur Municipal Corporation Shri Rajesh Singh, District Panchayat CEO Shri Ramprasad Chouhan, In-charge DFO Shri Abhinav Kumar, ward councilors, public representatives, and numerous citizens.
