TFP Bureau, Raipur; July 11, 2024: The Finance Commission team, led by Chairman Dr. Arvind Panagariya, met with Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai at the Mahanadi Bhawan Secretariat today. The team was warmly welcomed by the Chief Minister, who expressed his happiness over their visit to Chhattisgarh. The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao and Finance Minister Shri OP Choudhary.
During the meeting, various topics related to Chhattisgarh’s development were discussed. Chief Minister Shri Sai highlighted the additional expenditure burden the state faces due to its challenging geographical conditions. He emphasized that rapid development work is underway in Maoist-affected areas, with efforts to ensure basic facilities like education, health, roads, electricity, and water under the ‘Niyad Nellnar Scheme’. Effective measures are being taken to curb Naxalism in the state.
Shri Sai stressed the need for more financial assistance from the Finance Commission to significantly expand public welfare works.
“We are working towards creating a Viksit Chhattisgarh (Developed Chhattisgarh) alongside Viksit Bharat (Developed India). The country is rapidly becoming an economic superpower, and Chhattisgarh is also striving towards this goal,” he stated.
He expressed hope that the Finance Commission would support the state’s vision with increased financial aid.
In response, Dr. Arvind Panagariya commended the economic progress in Chhattisgarh, noting the state’s rapid development. He praised the systematic development of Nava Raipur and described Chhattisgarh as a beautiful state. Dr. Panagariya emphasized the importance of focusing on manufacturing units to fulfill the resolve of Viksit Bharat and Viksit Chhattisgarh.
“I am very happy to visit Chhattisgarh. I am pleased with the warm welcome. I was very happy to meet Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai,” he stated. The Finance Commission team plans to visit Nava Raipur and Jagdalpur to further assess the state’s progress and needs.
