TFP Bureau, Raipur; July 17, 2024: The Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee has raised concerns over the complete halt of operations in the state revenue department due to an ongoing employee strike. This situation has forced ordinary citizens to make repeated trips between Patwari and Tehsil offices. Sushil Anand Shukla, President of the State Congress Communications Department, criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ministers, blaming their inexperience and short-sightedness for the current crisis.
During the crucial farming season, with kharif sowing and preparation for Biasi underway, the strike has left citizens struggling to complete essential tasks such as nominations, partitions, error corrections, and obtaining loan books. Shukla accused the government, led by Vishnudev Sai, of focusing more on protecting land mafias and neglecting public grievances, leading to widespread corruption and extortion.
Shukla emphasized that many of the Patwaris’ demands relate directly to public issues, including the right to amendments and error corrections. The Tehsildar Sangh’s demands are largely in response to the rising crime under BJP rule, with officers facing intimidation and even assault. A recent attack on a Tehsildar has sparked statewide agitation among revenue officers, yet the government has failed to take immediate action or engage in dialogue, leaving farmers, students, and their families to suffer.
He also criticized the state government’s “Revenue Fortnight” initiative as a mere political stunt. With Patwaris and Tehsildars on strike, the event’s purpose is questioned, given the widespread agitation among the backbone of the revenue system. Students across the state are unable to obtain necessary income and caste certificates, causing distress for them and their parents, while the BJP government remains indifferent to their plight.
