Congress Criticizes Rising Crime Rates in Chhattisgarh Capital

“Law and Order Situation Worsening,” Claims Congress

TFP Bureau, Raipur; August 3, 2024: The Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee has raised alarms over escalating crime rates in Raipur. State Congress Communication Department President Sushil Anand Shukla reported that since the BJP government came to power, the capital has seen an average of three murders per day. He criticized the administration for its failure to address rising crime, asserting that violent incidents have become a daily occurrence.

Shukla highlighted that criminal activity in Raipur includes not only frequent murders but also an increase in violent crimes such as rape and robbery. He cited a rise in gang rapes and other assaults, with over 500 murders and more than 2,000 rape cases reported in the past seven months alone. The city has also witnessed incidents of public shootings, stabbings, and theft.

The Congress further criticized the government for its handling of law and order, pointing to recent mob violence, including a case where two people were lynched in Arang, and incidents of cow smuggling. Shukla denounced the rising insecurity, alleging that Chhattisgarh has become a crime hub under the current administration, with notable incidents including attacks on minors and widespread public violence.

Shukla concluded by accusing the BJP government of failing to ensure a safe environment for citizens, emphasizing that the deterioration in public safety reflects a broader collapse of the rule of law in the state.
