TFP Bureau, Raipur, August 4, 2024: Hareli Tihar was celebrated with traditional fervor at the official residence of former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. The residence was adorned with Chhattisgarhi cultural decorations, and Baghel, along with his family, participated in the Hareli Pujan program. The ceremony featured the worship of agricultural tools, including plows and hoes, as well as traditional rituals involving cattle.
The event included a vibrant cultural program with performances by renowned folk singers from the state. Attendees from across Chhattisgarh joined in the celebrations, with Baghel being honored with traditional Khumri and a plow. Baghel also engaged in traditional activities, including climbing the geedi and driving the bhanvra.
During his address, Baghel criticized the current BJP government, describing the Congress administration as a “game changer” compared to the BJP’s “name changer” approach. He alleged that the BJP government has only renamed existing schemes while neglecting significant issues such as the closure of cowsheds and restrictions on livestock. Baghel emphasized the importance of allowing Gram Panchayats to manage cowsheds and advocated for self-help groups to continue producing and selling vermicompost manure from cow dung.
Baghel also took a swipe at the current Chief Minister, suggesting that if the Chief Minister could not physically engage in traditional activities, he could have at least made a symbolic gesture by capturing photos with citizens.
