State Congress Chief Deepak Baij Addresses Party Members on Independence Day

Highlights Achievements, Challenges, and the Need to Uphold Constitutional Value

TFP Bureau, Raipur; August 15, 2024: Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President Deepak Baij hoisted the national flag at the State Congress Headquarters, Rajiv Bhawan, on the occasion of India’s 78th Independence Day. Addressing the gathered Congress workers, Baij extended his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes, while reflecting on the significance of the day and the ongoing challenges faced by the nation.

In his address, Baij emphasized the sacrifices made by countless freedom fighters, whose dedication and patriotism paved the way for an independent India.

“This festival of independence reminds us of the countless known and unknown freedom fighters who endured immense hardships for the dream of a free India. The entire nation is forever grateful to them,” he stated.

Baij also highlighted the unique ideals that guided India’s freedom struggle under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi and other visionary leaders. He noted how these ideals of truth and non-violence became a beacon for political struggles worldwide and are enshrined in the Indian Constitution, which continues to protect the rights of the common people.

However, Baij expressed concern over the current state of constitutional values in the country, which he believes are under attack. He asserted that it is the Congress Party’s responsibility to safeguard these values and protect India’s democracy. “Our leadership, under Mrs. Sonia Gandhi, Mr. Mallikarjun Kharge, and Mr. Rahul Gandhi, is committed to raising the voice of the people and defending our constitutional principles,” he said.

Reflecting on the recent electoral outcomes, Baij acknowledged the Congress Party’s role as a strong opposition, both at the center and in Chhattisgarh. He praised the achievements of the previous Congress-led government in the state, particularly in areas such as education, healthcare, and rural development. He expressed confidence that the public still holds the Congress government in high regard, especially in comparison to the current administration.

Baij criticized the present government for its failure to maintain law and order, citing rising crime rates and the resurgence of fear and unrest in regions like Bastar. He also condemned the harassment of journalists and the deterioration of governance within just eight months of the new administration’s tenure.

In conclusion, Baij reaffirmed the Congress Party’s commitment to fighting for the rights of the people of Chhattisgarh and vowed to continue the struggle until the current government is replaced. “For a better Chhattisgarh, it is essential to remove the BJP from power. This is the resolution of every Congressman on this holy festival of independence,” he declared.
