Students Inspired by Lessons on Environmental Protection and Renewable Energy

TFP Bureau, Ambikapur, August 21, 2024: Dr. Aditya Raje Singh, recognized as the state’s youngest environmentalist and yoga expert, visited Adani Vidya Mandir and the Parsa East Kete Basan (PEKB) mine in Surguja on Tuesday, August 20th, as part of Akshay Urja Diwas celebrations. At just 10 years old, Dr. Singh has already made significant contributions to environmental research, earning him a place in the Golden Book of World Records. His visit aimed to raise awareness among school students about environmental conservation and renewable energy.

During his visit, Dr. Singh addressed students from grades 9 to 12, sharing insights from his research and emphasizing the importance of environmental protection. He encouraged the students to engage in tree planting initiatives, underscoring the health and ecological benefits of afforestation.

Dr. Singh’s visit also included a tour of the PEKB mine, where he was impressed by the efforts of Rajasthan State Electricity Generation Corporation. The corporation has developed a forest of 1.2 million trees and a nursery housing 400,000 plants within the mined area. Dr. Singh praised these initiatives, noting that they reflect a strong commitment to environmental stewardship.

In his address, Dr. Singh highlighted the significance of balancing India’s rapid growth in solar energy with the continued reliance on coal for stable electricity supply. He pointed out that responsible mining practices, combined with modern technology and renewable energy projects, are essential for sustainable development.

Students at Adani Vidya Mandir were deeply inspired by Dr. Singh’s achievements and his message of environmental responsibility.

“Seeing someone so young achieve so much is both surprising and motivating,” said Preeti Gond, a class 11 student.

Ashish Pandey, the principal of Adani Vidya Mandir, expressed hope that Dr. Singh’s visit would inspire students from tribal areas like Surguja to strive for similar success. The school, which provides free English-medium education and resources to nearly 1,000 students, predominantly from tribal communities, aims to empower them through quality education.

Dr. Singh also visited the Skill Development Center and sewing center operated by Adani Foundation, which supports local women. The PEKB mine, managed by Adani Enterprises Limited under the Rajasthan State Electricity Generation Corporation, has been recognized for its commitment to social and environmental causes, including quality education, healthcare, and livelihood enhancement programs.
