TFP Bureau, Raipur, August 25, 2024: The Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee staged a statewide protest on Saturday against the recent arrests of Congress MLA Devendra Yadav, other Congress leaders, and members of the Satnami community in connection with the Baloda Bazar case. Demonstrations and dharnas were held across all districts, with prominent Congress figures leading the charge in their respective regions.
In Raipur, State Congress President Deepak Baij spearheaded the protest, condemning the arrests as politically motivated and unjust. Baij accused the government of targeting Congress leaders and innocent people to divert attention from its own failures.
“The arrests of innocent individuals will not be tolerated,” he declared, urging the Chief Minister to subject Congress and BJP leaders to narco tests to prove their innocence or involvement. Baij further challenged the BJP to undergo similar tests for their leaders, including the Chief Minister and Home Minister, asserting that such tests would reveal the truth.
Baij alleged that the BJP was behind the Baloda Bazar incident, aiming to malign the Satnami community and create a false narrative. He criticized the BJP government for allegedly creating a hostile environment in the Satnami community and for its actions against Congress members, which he described as a conspiracy to suppress dissent. Baij demanded a CBI investigation into the Baloda Bazar case, arguing that the government should apply the same scrutiny to this significant incident as it does to smaller matters.
He emphasized that the Congress party is prepared to fight vigorously against what he termed a “Hitler-like” government, promising continued activism until the BJP government is ousted and justice is served. “If one Congress worker is jailed, ten more are ready to go,” he asserted, vowing that the party’s struggle for truth and justice will persist.
The protests saw participation from various Congress leaders, including former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel in Durg, Leader of Opposition Dr. Charandas Mahant in Sakti, and several other prominent figures across the state. The Congress party’s actions reflect its ongoing commitment to challenging the current administration and advocating for the rights of its members and supporters.
