TFP Bureau, Korba; September 13, 2024: Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO), India’s iconic aluminium producer and a unit of Vedanta Aluminium, has recently incorporated advanced medical technologies for two complex procedures, namely Neurosurgery for Hydrocephalus and Phacoemulsification at its establishment. These complex procedures often need advanced care for which patients had to travel to cities to seek treatment. These breakthroughs will enhance the hospital’s service capabilities and reaffirm BALCO’s commitment to delivering advanced healthcare solutions in rural communities. Every year, the skilled medical team at BALCO Hospital caters to over 2,10,000 patients from Korba, Raigarh, Bilaspur, and Janjgir Champa districts in Chhattisgarh.
Recently, doctors at BALCO Hospital performed neurosurgery using External Ventricular Drain (EVD) for Hydrocephalus, a condition where fluid builds up in the brain cavities which might potentially lead to brain damage. Additionally, Phacoemulsification is a modern, stitch-free cataract surgery offering rapid improvement in vision clarity. This technique allows for precise lens placement, greatly enhancing visual results. Moreover, it minimizes post-operative care and recovery time compared to traditional methods, offering patients faster and more efficient treatment.
Mr. Ram Nath, a patient who was successfully treated for neurosurgery by Dr. Pradeep Tripathi, expressed his gratitude, stating, “I am deeply thankful to the doctors at BALCO Hospital for their exceptional care and treatment. Their quick response and post-surgery care provided great comfort. Moreover, I did not have to travel to a metro city, which was extremely convenient for me and my family. I owe my recovery to their expertise and dedication.”
BALCO Hospital has also introduced arthroplasty, an advanced surgical procedure focused on joint replacement, aimed at restoring mobility and alleviating chronic pain for patients suffering from joint disorders such as arthritis, fractures, or joint degeneration. This technique allows for the replacement of damaged or worn-out joints with artificial implants, improving patient outcomes by significantly reducing recovery time and enhancing long-term joint function. Furthermore, the addition of fully automatic pathology analyzers enhances diagnostic accuracy, significantly reducing the margin of error in patient treatments.
Dr. Vivek Sinha, Chief Medical Officer, BALCO Hospital, highlighted the importance of integrating cutting-edge technologies in healthcare, stating, “Technological advancements have significantly enhanced our ability to provide precise diagnoses, which is the cornerstone of effective treatment. With these new capabilities, we have expanded our reach, enabling us to serve a broader population and make a meaningful impact on the lives of our patients.”
Mr. Rajesh Kumar, CEO & Director, BALCO, talking about the significant progress in medical treatments at BALCO Hospital, said “Our hospital now provides some of the most advanced treatment options in the region, reaffirming BALCO’s commitment to delivering world-class healthcare to the local community. These advancements reflect our ongoing efforts to ensure that high-quality medical care is accessible to all, further strengthening our role in enhancing community health.”
