TFP Bureau, Raipur; September 28, 2024: Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai has announced a series of development projects worth Rs 23 crore for Durg, aimed at improving the city’s infrastructure and economy. During the Bhoomi Pujan ceremony held in Mathpara, the Chief Minister outlined plans to construct a multi-level parking facility at Indira Market and widen key roads, including Science College to Durg Railway Station Canal Road and Chandi Mandir to Naya Para Chowk. Additionally, new ‘pink toilets’ for women will be installed at major intersections across the city to improve public hygiene.
Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Sai emphasized the state government’s commitment to the balanced development of both urban and rural areas. “The public trusted Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s leadership and gave us the opportunity to form the government. I am here to thank the people for their continued support,” he said.
Shri Sai highlighted the government’s recent achievements, including initiatives for farmers, women, and youth. He noted that 18 lakh homes will be constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana, while 70 lakh women benefit from the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, receiving Rs 12,000 annually. Other major schemes, such as the Ramlala Darshan Yojana and increased tendu leaf collection rates, were also praised.
The event was chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao, who underscored the government’s commitment to urban development, stating, “Funds will not be a constraint for the development of Chhattisgarh’s cities.” He confirmed that 167 projects worth Rs 43.67 crore have already been approved and commended the swift progress under Shri Sai’s leadership.
Local leaders, including MP Shri Vijay Baghel and MLA Shri Gajendra Yadav, expressed their gratitude for the development plans. MP Baghel praised the construction of the auditorium and pink toilets, while MLA Yadav highlighted the need for further infrastructure improvements like multi-level parking and road expansion.
Bhoomi Pujan of Key Projects
Chief Minister Sai laid the foundation for various projects, including the development of a sports ground in Urla (Rs 1.98 crore), road safety enhancements at Rajendra Park Chowk (Rs 88.47 lakh), and tree plantation works (Rs 1.66 crore). Other projects include the construction of Ambedkar Sarva Samaj Manglik Bhawan (Rs 1.99 crore), cultural buildings, and over 59 road, drain, and culvert projects across different city wards.
Several prominent figures, including former MLA Mr. Labhchand Bafna, Mayor Mr. Dheeraj Bakliwal, and Divisional Commissioner Mr. Satyanarayan Rathore, were present at the event alongside other public representatives and senior officials.
