By-Elections 2024: Voting on 48 Assembly Seats Across 14 States on November 13

Chhattisgarh’s Raipur South and Kerala’s Wayanad among key constituencies facing by-polls

TFP Bureau, Raipur, October 16, 2024: By-elections will take place across 14 states on November 13, 2024, covering 48 assembly seats. Voters in these constituencies will decide their representatives, with results scheduled to be announced on November 23.

In Chhattisgarh, Raipur South will head to the polls after the seat was vacated due to BJP MLA Brijmohan Agarwal’s election to the Lok Sabha. The by-election here is expected to draw significant attention.

Key states participating in these by-elections include Uttar Pradesh with 9 assembly seats, Rajasthan with 7, West Bengal with 6, and Assam with 5. Other states like Bihar, Punjab, Karnataka, Kerala, and Madhya Pradesh will see elections on fewer seats. Kerala’s Wayanad, a key Lok Sabha constituency, will also vote on November 13 after Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s resignation. Nanded in Maharashtra, another Lok Sabha seat, will hold its election on November 20 following the passing of Congress MP Vasantrao Chavan.

The election schedule has been set, with the notification being issued on October 18. The last date for filing nominations is October 25, with withdrawals allowed until October 30. Counting of votes will take place on November 23, sealing the fate of these crucial by-elections.

This by-election cycle is seen as a significant precursor to the upcoming general elections, as political parties gear up for important electoral battles across the country.
