TFP Bureau, Raipur, October 17, 2024: The notification for the Raipur Nagar (South) Assembly by-election will be published on October 18, officially opening the nomination process. Candidates will have until October 25 to submit their nominations. The scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on October 28, and candidates can withdraw their names by October 30. Voting for the by-election is scheduled for November 13, with the counting of votes to follow on November 23.
Chief Electoral Officer Smt. Reena Babasaheb Kangale outlined the nomination guidelines, stating that each candidate may bring only three vehicles within 100 meters of the nomination center. The security deposit for filing nominations is set at ₹10,000 for general category candidates and ₹5,000 for those in the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe categories. Only five individuals, including the candidate, will be permitted inside the nomination room.
Mrs. Kangale also mentioned that the Election Commission of India has provided an alternative facility for online nominations and affidavits. While candidates can make online entries and print the necessary documents, they must still submit the nomination forms in person before the Returning Officer. Each candidate can submit up to four sets of nomination forms and must also include a recent photograph with their submission.
