President Murmu Honors Outstanding NIT Graduates at 14th Convocation Ceremony

Emphasis on Technical Skills for Nation Building as 12 Students Receive Gold Medals

TFP Bureau, Raipur, October 25, 2024: The 14th convocation of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Raipur was a momentous occasion as President Smt. Draupadi Murmu conferred gold medals to 12 exceptional engineering students, celebrating their academic achievements. The ceremony took place at the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium and was attended by distinguished guests, including Governor Shri Ramen Deka, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, and Union Minister of State Shri Tokhan Sahu.

During the event, degrees were awarded to 1,439 graduates, including 1,044 from B.Tech and B.Arch programs, 225 from MCA and M.Tech programs, and 170 doctoral candidates. President Murmu praised the students for reaching a significant milestone in their lives through dedication and hard work, highlighting the crucial support of their families and the guidance of their professors.

In her address, President Murmu noted, “India’s remarkable achievements in digital inclusion have astonished the world. Our nation possesses the potential to achieve even greater successes.” She emphasized the importance of institutions like NIT Raipur and the innovative spirit of the youth in harnessing these possibilities.

Reflecting on the India Semiconductor Mission, which aims to position India as a global semiconductor manufacturing hub, the President underscored its significance for economic growth and technological self-reliance. “This industry offers numerous opportunities for young engineers, paving the way for employment and startup ventures,” she stated, expressing confidence that their efforts will contribute to a developed India and enhance the country’s global standing.

Governor Ramen Deka also addressed the graduates, commending their resilience through years of academic challenges and celebrating their friendships and shared experiences. He urged them to utilize their engineering and technological skills to address pressing global issues such as climate change, poverty, and unemployment.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai expressed gratitude for President Murmu’s presence and her commitment to supporting the talents of Chhattisgarh. He congratulated all graduates and stressed that their journey begins now, with a call to improve the lives of underserved communities in the agriculture-based state. Highlighting the state’s rich natural resources and potential for industrial growth, he reiterated the importance of their contributions to achieving Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India by 2047.

The Chief Minister also announced that India is on track to become the third-largest economy globally, with Chhattisgarh poised for significant economic development. He emphasized the implementation of the new National Education Policy in the state, focusing on skill development and preparing a technically skilled and entrepreneurial youth generation.

Among the gold medal recipients, Yash Bansal, the overall topper in Computer Science and Engineering, received two gold medals. Other distinguished winners included Ankit Mahobia (Bachelor of Architecture), Ishika Jain (Biomedical Engineering), Sibbhoo Kumar Singh (Biotechnology), Shikha Rai (Chemical Engineering), Muskan Agarwal (Civil Engineering), Shubham Agarwal (Electrical Engineering), Abhishek Kumar (Electronics and Communication Engineering), Disha Jain (Information Technology), Prakhar Jadhav (Meta and Materials Engineering), and Priyanshu Kumar (Mining Engineering).

The convocation underscored the significance of technical education and its vital role in shaping a prosperous future for both the students and the nation.
