TFP Bureau, Raipur, October 30, 2024: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced a complete ban on conducting and broadcasting exit polls from November 13 to November 20, covering the Raipur Nagar (South) Assembly by-election. This ban also applies to the general elections for the Legislative Assemblies in Jharkhand and Maharashtra, as well as by-elections for 48 Legislative Assembly seats and two Parliamentary constituencies.
The ECI’s notification states that during this period, exit polls cannot be conducted or published through print, electronic media, or any other platform, in compliance with the Representation of the People Act, 1951. This restriction will be enforced from 7 a.m. on November 13 until 6:30 p.m. on November 20.
Additionally, under Section 126 (1)b of the Act, the display of election-related content, including opinion polls or polling survey results, will be prohibited in electronic media within 48 hours of the scheduled end time for each polling day. This measure aims to maintain election integrity across all affected constituencies.
