TFP Bureau, Raipur, November 7, 2024: Congress General Secretary and Chhattisgarh Incharge Sachin Pilot held a press conference at Congress Bhawan, joined by State Congress President Deepak Baij and Leader of Opposition Dr. Charandas Mahant. Pilot took the opportunity to launch the *Mahila Swaraj Abhiyan*, a campaign led by the Youth Congress to encourage women’s participation in upcoming Panchayat elections. This initiative, he said, reflects Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s commitment to empowering women in politics from grassroots to Parliament.
Pilot criticized the BJP’s approach, citing aggressive campaigning and divisive rhetoric, which he described as a sign of the party’s anxiety. “The language and tactics we’re seeing from the BJP reflect panic,” he stated, drawing parallels to BJP’s recent setbacks in other states. Addressing the by-election in Raipur South, he said, “The way BJP is pushing its campaign for Raipur South shows their fear. They suffered a shock in the Lok Sabha, and similar results seem likely here.”
Pilot addressed recent violence and rising crime rates under BJP rule, attributing the issues to poor governance. “Incidents of violence and lawlessness are on the rise. Offices are being burnt, and SPs and Collectors are fleeing,” he remarked. He accused BJP of evading accountability and deflecting blame onto Congress whenever issues arise.
Responding to recent statements from BJP leaders, Pilot took aim at BJP’s internal maneuvering in Raipur South, where local leaders, including MP Brijmohan Agarwal, have rotated positions between MP and MLA. “When BJP leaders don’t work for their constituencies, even their strongholds become fragile,” he noted, adding that shifts in voter support reflect the party’s diminishing connection with the people.
Pilot was joined by senior Congress leaders, including AICC Secretary and Chhattisgarh Co-incharge S.A. Sampat Kumar, AICC Secretary and Co-incharge Jarita Laitphlang, and AICC Joint Secretary Vijay Jangid. The leaders underscored Congress’s commitment to running a robust campaign focused on addressing local needs and issues.
