Voters Urged to Cast Their Ballot in Raipur Nagar (South) By-Election

Polling stations set for over 2.71 lakh voters; alternative ID documents accepted for voting

TFP Bureau, Raipur, November 12, 2024: With the Raipur Nagar (South) Assembly by-election set for November 13, Chief Electoral Officer Smt. Reena Babasaheb Kangale has made a heartfelt appeal to all eligible voters in the constituency to participate actively and cast their votes. Polling stations will be open from 7 am to 6 pm across 253 main polling sites and 13 auxiliary stations.

The electorate for this by-election includes more than 2.71 lakh registered voters: 1,33,800 male, 1,37,317 female, and 52 third-gender voters. The Chief Electoral Officer emphasized the importance of turnout, reminding voters of their role in the democratic process.

For voter identification, the Election Commission of India has issued Elector Photo Identity Cards (EPIC) to all voters. However, for those unable to present this card, 12 alternate forms of photo ID are acceptable. These include Aadhaar Card, MNREGA Job Card, bank or post office passbooks with a photo, health insurance smart cards, driving licenses, PAN cards, smart cards from the National Population Register (NPR), passports, pension documents with photos, government-issued employee ID cards, MP/MLA identity cards, and Unique Disability ID cards.

Chief Electoral Officer Kangale assured that adequate measures are in place to facilitate smooth and transparent voting across the constituency. The Election Commission urges all eligible voters to make use of this opportunity and exercise their right to vote.
