TFP Bureau, Raipur, November 14, 2024: Hidayatullah National Law University (HNLU) in Raipur, in collaboration with the National Commission for Women (NCW), is set to host a one-day regional consultation on “Cyber Laws and Women: A Critical Analysis” on November 16, 2024. This event will focus on examining the intersection of cyber laws and women’s rights, exploring how the current legal landscape impacts women’s safety in the digital sphere.
Shri S.R.P. Kalluri, IPS, Additional Director General of Police, Chhattisgarh, will be the Chief Guest for the session, with Ms. Monika Yadav, Deputy Secretary of the NCW, as the Guest of Honor.
The consultation will gather a diverse panel of 25 experts from Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, including IPS officers, judicial members, law professors, senior advocates, NGO representatives, and ethical hackers specializing in cyber law and safety. Additionally, around 50 attendees—comprising law students, faculty, and other professionals—will participate in discussions on the unique cyber-related challenges women face in today’s digital landscape.
The primary goal of the consultation is to assess the effectiveness of current cyber laws in addressing issues of online safety, harassment, and privacy for women. Panelists will analyze gaps in the legal framework and recommend actionable changes to improve the protection of women online. A report compiling the insights and recommendations from this session will be submitted to the Ministry and relevant authorities to inform ongoing policy-making efforts aimed at enhancing cyber laws for women’s empowerment and safety.
With a strong focus on actionable outcomes, the event is designed to be a platform for meaningful dialogue on an issue that increasingly affects women across India, highlighting the need for robust, gender-sensitive cyber laws in the digital age.
