Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Honors Tribal Communities for Preserving Cultural Traditions

Baiga, Gunia, and Sirha communities to receive annual honorarium of Rs 5,000.

TFP Bureau, Jagdalpur, November 18, 2024: Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai paid tribute to the Baiga, Gunia, and Sirha tribal communities of Chhattisgarh, recognizing their role as custodians of tribal culture and traditions. At a ceremony held at the Circuit House in Jagdalpur, the Chief Minister presented members of these communities with a traditional shawl and coconut as a mark of respect.

In a significant move to honor and economically support these tribal groups, Shri Sai announced that each member of the Baiga, Gunia, and Sirha communities will receive an annual honorarium of Rs 5,000. He emphasized that this initiative is aimed at preserving tribal heritage while contributing to the economic empowerment of these communities.

“The government is committed to safeguarding the culture and traditions of tribal society. Supporting the Baiga, Gunia, and Sirha communities will not only promote their cultural identity but also boost their pride and self-reliance,” said the Chief Minister.

Shri Sai also highlighted the importance of involving tribal communities in the state’s development initiatives, calling them vital partners in shaping a self-reliant Chhattisgarh.

The event was attended by Forest Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap, Jagdalpur MLA Shri Kiran Deo, former MLA Mahesh Gagda, and other local representatives, underscoring the state government’s dedication to tribal welfare and cultural preservation.

This program reflects Chhattisgarh’s ongoing commitment to the empowerment and upliftment of its tribal population, ensuring their traditions remain integral to the state’s identity.
