TFP Bureau, Raipur, November 21, 2024: Chhattisgarh’s paddy procurement drive, launched on November 14 under the guidance of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, has made significant progress. As of now, 5.37 lakh metric tonnes of paddy have been procured from over 1.16 lakh farmers across the state. A total payment of ₹971.16 crore has been disbursed to farmers through the bank-linked payment system. The campaign will continue until January 31, 2025.
According to Food Department officials, 27.68 lakh farmers have registered for this year’s Kharif season, including 1.45 lakh first-time registrants. The state targets the procurement of 160 lakh metric tonnes of paddy through 2,739 designated centres.
On November 21 alone, 1.18 lakh metric tonnes of paddy were purchased from 26,501 farmers, with 30,828 tokens issued for the day. An additional 25,840 tokens have been issued for the next day, ensuring a streamlined process for farmers bringing their produce to procurement centres.
The initiative underscores the government’s commitment to supporting farmers and strengthening agricultural procurement in Chhattisgarh.
