TFP Bureau, Korba, November 24, 2024:The inter-departmental volleyball competition organized by Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO), a Vedanta Group company, concluded with grandeur at Ambedkar Stadium. The event witnessed spirited performances from all teams, highlighting the organization’s focus on teamwork and sportsmanship.
In the women’s category, the Project Females team triumphed over the Security Spikers to clinch the championship title. In the men’s category, Security A emerged victorious in an intense final match against Potterroom Stars, taking home the winner’s trophy. Power Rockers secured third place by defeating the Cast Busters. The 15-day-long tournament featured a total of 36 men’s and six women’s teams, comprising BALCO employees, contract workers, and teams from BALCO Hospital.
The closing ceremony celebrated the exceptional performances of the players. Suraj was named the best spiker in the men’s category, with Vivekanand Moharana (Bapuni) recognized as the best smasher and Vijay Mishra as the best defender. In the women’s category, Rupanjali, Suman Chandravanshi, and Pushpanjali Chauhan were honored as the best spiker, smasher, and defender, respectively.
BALCO CEO and Director Mr. Rajesh Kumar praised the players for their enthusiasm and teamwork. “Sports competitions like this are essential for fostering unity, mutual harmony, and team spirit. BALCO remains committed to promoting the health and well-being of its employees and partners through such events,” he stated.
The tournament featured over 400 participants, including officers, employees, business partners, and township residents. To further encourage camaraderie, goodwill matches were held between the committee and referee teams, as well as management and trade union teams. The event reinforced a sense of unity and sportsmanship among all participants, making it a memorable occasion for the BALCO community.
