HSRP Mark Made Mandatory for Vehicles Registered Before April 2019 in Chhattisgarh

Transport Department Urges Compliance with Supreme Court’s Directives; Authorized Vendors Appointed for Installation

TFP Bureau, Raipur, November 25, 2024: The Transport Department of Chhattisgarh has mandated the installation of High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) on all motor vehicles registered before April 2019 in the state. Vehicle owners will be required to complete this process within 120 days.

In a meeting held at Mahanadi Mantralaya Bhawan, Transport Commissioner Shri S. Prakash emphasized the importance of complying with the Supreme Court’s directive regarding HSRP installation. The Transport Department has authorized two vendors—M/s Real Mason India Limited and Rosmerta Safety System Limited—to carry out the installation at designated rates.

As per the new guidelines, the state has been divided into two zones for efficient implementation. M/s Real Mason India Ltd. will handle installations in Zone-A, which includes RTO offices in districts such as Raipur, Bilaspur, and Bemetara. M/s Rosmerta Safety System Ltd. will manage installations in Zone-B, covering areas like Durg, Rajnandgaon, and Ambikapur.

The rates for installing the HSRP plates are set as follows: Rs 365.80 (including GST) for two-wheelers, Rs 427.16 for three-wheelers, Rs 656.08 for light motor vehicles, and Rs 705.64 for passenger cars. All payments must be made digitally. Additionally, automobile dealers will install the plates for vehicles registered before April 2019 for an additional charge of Rs 100 per vehicle, with extra fees for home delivery.

This initiative follows the guidelines set by the Supreme Court and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, under the provisions of the Central Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989. Failure to comply with the HSRP installation will result in penalties as per the Central Motor Vehicles Act. The Transport Department has urged vehicle owners to replace any fake or look-alike registration plates with authentic HSRPs to avoid legal action.

For public convenience, the procedure for applying for the HSRP mark will be available on the official website. The Transport Department has also warned that unauthorized sales of HSRP plates will lead to legal action against dealers or individuals found in violation.
