TFP Bureau ,Raipur, November 28, 2024: Chhattisgarh is set to witness the construction of the Chitrotpala Film City, a major project that will be developed at a cost of Rs 147 crore. The Government of India has approved this amount, providing a significant boost to the state’s film industry and tourism. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai made the announcement in a program marking the occasion of Chhattisgarhi Rajbhasha Diwas, speaking in Chhattisgarhi. He emphasized that the Film City will not only promote Chhattisgarhi films and dramas but will also enhance the state’s tourism potential.
The Chief Minister also made an important announcement regarding the honorarium of Padma Shri awardees from Chhattisgarh, raising it from Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000 per month. This move is part of the state government’s continuous efforts to support and honor eminent personalities who have made significant contributions to society.
Chief Minister Shri Sai reiterated the government’s commitment to the development of the Chhattisgarhi language, describing it as a vital link that connects people from the heart. He noted that Chhattisgarhi films have played a crucial role in promoting the language and culture of the state.
In a key decision, Shri Sai declared that the Chhattisgarh Official Language Commission would no longer be merged with the Sahitya Parishad, but would continue its dedicated work to promote Chhattisgarhi as the official language. This move follows a proposal to preserve the Commission’s functions independently.
During the event, the Chief Minister honored six prominent Chhattisgarhi litterateurs for their contributions to the language, presenting them with shawls, shriphal (traditional offerings), and mementos. Additionally, 12 Chhattisgarhi-language books, published by the Chhattisgarh Official Language Commission, were released to celebrate the rich literary tradition of the state.
Presiding over the event, MP Shri Brijmohan Agarwal stressed the importance of speaking and teaching Chhattisgarhi to future generations. He urged writers to create novels, poems, and historical works in the language and expressed his commitment to working toward getting Chhattisgarhi included in the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution.
Padma Shri awardees Dr. Surendra Dubey and Dr. Ramendranath Mishra were also present as special guests, with Secretary of Culture Shri Anbalgan P., Director of Culture and Official Language Shri Vivek Acharya, and Secretary of the Official Language Commission Dr. Abhilasha Behar all addressing the gathering in Chhattisgarhi. Dr. Behar highlighted the Commission’s efforts in training over 2,700 officers and employees in the language, as well as its contribution to the publication of 1,400 books in Chhattisgarhi.
