Central Government Approves Rs 147.66 Crore for Key Tourism Projects in Chhattisgarh

Film City and Cultural Center to Boost State’s Tourism and Global Identity

TFP Bureau, Raipur, November 29, 2024: In a major boost for Chhattisgarh’s tourism sector, the Central Government has approved Rs 147.66 crore for two significant projects aimed at enhancing the state’s tourism infrastructure. The approved funds will be used for the construction of Chitrotpala Film City and a Tribal and Cultural Convention Center in Raipur, both of which are expected to promote local culture and attract global attention to the state’s tourism offerings.

The Chitrotpala Film City, with an investment of Rs 95.79 crore, will become a hub for film production and film tourism, while the Rs 51.87 crore Tribal and Cultural Convention Center will serve as a platform for showcasing Chhattisgarh’s rich tribal heritage and vibrant culture. These initiatives are expected to generate employment, stimulate local development, and elevate Chhattisgarh’s profile on the global tourism map.

The approval comes as a result of sustained efforts by Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, who, on the recommendation of the Chhattisgarh Tourism Board, coordinated with the Union Ministry of Tourism. In October 2024, Shri Vivek Acharya, Managing Director of the Chhattisgarh Tourism Board, presented proposals worth approximately Rs 300 crore to Union Tourism Minister Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in New Delhi. This led to the approval of Rs 147.66 crore for these two flagship projects under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment Scheme for 2024-25.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai expressed gratitude for the approval and highlighted the transformative potential these projects will have on the state’s tourism industry. He noted that the establishment of the Film City and Convention Center will not only bolster the local economy but also place Chhattisgarh at the forefront of India’s tourism and cultural landscape.

These initiatives are part of the broader vision to develop Chhattisgarh into a global tourist destination, showcasing the state’s cultural diversity and scenic beauty to the world. The development of film tourism in particular will open new avenues for the entertainment industry, attracting filmmakers and tourists alike to the region.
