Congress Questions Modi Government’s Silence on Attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh

Calls for strict action to protect Hindu minorities, demands clarity from BJP on its stance

TFP Bureau, Raipur, December 1, 2024: The Congress party has accused the central government of inaction over the recent attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh. State Congress senior spokesperson Dhananjay Singh Thakur criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for their silence on the issue, demanding immediate and strict measures to ensure the safety of Hindu minorities in the neighboring country.

Thakur questioned the BJP’s commitment to protecting Hindus, stating, “The BJP, which brands itself as the champion of Hindus, remains silent while Hindus in Bangladesh face violence. Narendra Modi, who once claimed he would retaliate fiercely against enemy nations, now seems unwilling to address this crisis. What compels the BJP government to stay silent?”

Thakur also highlighted the Congress party’s proactive stance, saying that the issue of attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh was raised in Parliament, with the party demanding swift and decisive action from the government. He urged the BJP to disclose what measures the Modi administration has taken to address the situation and ensure the safety of Hindus in Bangladesh.

Drawing a historical parallel, Thakur recalled the actions of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi during the 1971 India-Pakistan war. “When Hindus were attacked in Pakistan, the Congress-led Indira government responded by creating Bangladesh to protect them. The BJP must clarify its stance and explain why it hasn’t acted with similar resolve,” he said.

Thakur also dismissed the BJP’s social media campaigns, accusing the party of attempting to deflect attention from the government’s “indecisiveness” on the issue. He reiterated Congress’s position, calling for the central government to take immediate diplomatic and strategic steps to ensure the safety and security of Hindus in Bangladesh.

The Congress’s sharp criticism has increased pressure on the BJP to address the issue and provide a clear explanation of its actions and policy on the safety of Hindu minorities in neighboring countries.
