TFP Bureau, Raipur, December 2, 2024: Chhattisgarh is all set to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on 3 December with a grand state-level program at the Science College Ground in Raipur, starting at 12 noon. The event will honor individuals with disabilities who have made outstanding contributions to their communities and fields of work.
Social Welfare Minister to Lead Celebrations; 5000 Disabled People to Attend
The program will be graced by Social Welfare and Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Laxmi Rajwade, who will serve as the chief guest, while Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Shri Tankaram Verma will preside over the function. Special guests include MP Shri Brijmohan Agarwal and several state MLAs, including Shri Rajesh Munat, Shri Guru Khuswant Saheb, and Shri Sunil Soni. Around 5,000 disabled individuals from across the state are expected to participate in the event.
Chief Minister’s Message on Divyangjan Empowerment
On the eve of the event, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai extended his wishes to all persons with disabilities. In his message, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of equal rights and opportunities for disabled individuals, highlighting the state government’s commitment to their all-round development and self-reliance.
“Disability is merely a physical limitation, and it is essential that society understands this. Divyangjans should be integrated into the mainstream, enjoying the same economic and social status as any other citizen,” said the Chief Minister. He also stressed the need for increased awareness about the health and nutrition of future generations to prevent disabilities.
The state-level event and the Chief Minister’s remarks underscore the government’s ongoing efforts to ensure inclusivity and empowerment for persons with disabilities across Chhattisgarh.
