Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai Holds Review Meeting on Naxal Situation and Development Plans for Bastar

TFP Bureau, Raipur, December 4,2024:.  The Chhattisgarh government has made significant strides in the battle against Naxalism, according to Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, who today reviewed the state’s progress in a high-level meeting at the Police Headquarters in Nava Raipur. The meeting, attended by senior state officials, including Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Shri Vijay Sharma, focused on strategies to end Naxalism in the region by March 2026, as per the Union Home Minister’s vision.

“Our government has fought a decisive battle against Naxalism in just 11 months,” said Chief Minister Sai. He reiterated the state’s commitment to eradicating the insurgency, noting that significant efforts would be made to fulfill the goal of a Naxal-free Chhattisgarh by 2026. The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of continuing public awareness campaigns to encourage Naxalites to surrender, and he pointed out that Bastar, which has long been affected by insurgency, is now moving towards development.

Reflecting on recent positive signs of change, including the successful Bastar Olympics, the Chief Minister said the region’s residents are eager for a future free from violence. He instructed officials to accelerate the construction of 15,000 houses for surrendered Naxalites and families affected by the insurgency, under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), to improve their living conditions and integrate them back into society.

Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma, who also holds the Home Ministry portfolio, emphasized the importance of community involvement in the anti-Naxal campaign. He stressed that breaking the financial network of Naxalites was crucial to dismantling the insurgency, and the state government would take all necessary measures to achieve this.

The meeting also discussed expanding the security grid, establishing new camps in Naxal-affected areas, and devising joint action plans to tackle the issue.

Chhattisgarh’s security and law enforcement leadership, including Director General of Police Ashok Juneja and senior officials from the Home Department, were also present at the meeting. The state government remains focused on ensuring peace and development in the region, with an emphasis on rehabilitation, infrastructure, and long-term stability.
