State Election Commissioner Reviews Preparations for 2024-25 Municipal and Panchayat Elections

Ajay Singh directs timely completion of reservation and delimitation processes to ensure smooth elections

TFP Bureau, Raipur, December 5, 2024: A review meeting on the preparations for the general elections of Municipalities and Three-Tier Panchayats 2024-25 was held today under the chairmanship of State Election Commissioner Shri Ajay Singh. Senior officials from the General Administration, Urban Administration, and Panchayat Departments gathered at the Commission office in Atal Nagar, Nava Raipur to discuss key election preparations.

Shri Ajay Singh emphasized the importance of ensuring the reservation process is completed within the set timelines. He stated that the processes of delimitation and reservation are crucial for conducting fair and timely elections. “We must ensure the reservation process is completed on time to facilitate smooth and transparent elections,” he said.

The meeting reviewed various aspects of the election process, including the honorarium for polling parties and the transportation fare for election-related duties. Shri Singh also instructed all departments to work in close coordination to prevent any disruptions during the election period.

Addressing the need for adequate staffing, the State Election Commissioner urged the authorities to fill vacant positions such as Deputy Collectors, Chief Municipal Officers, Chief Executive Officers of Janpad Panchayats, and Tehsildars/Naib Tehsildars, both within the Commission and in district offices. He emphasized that regular reviews of the electoral process would be conducted, and corrective actions would be taken immediately if necessary.

The meeting was attended by several senior officials, including Principal Secretary of Panchayat and Rural Development Department Mrs. Niharika Barik Singh, Secretary of General Administration Department Mr. Avinash Champawat, and Secretary of Urban Administration and Development Department Mr. Basavaraju S. Senior members of the State Election Commission, including Dr. Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure, Deputy Secretary Dr. Neha Kapoor, Dr. Anupriya Mishra, and Shri Alok Kumar Srivastava, were also present.

The State Election Commissioner assured that the upcoming local body elections would be conducted efficiently, with careful attention to every stage of the electoral process.
