TFP Bureau, Raipur, December 9, 2024: Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai inaugurated seven housing projects under the *Atal Vihar Yojana* at his residence office, marking a significant step toward realizing the vision of “Housing for All.” The initiative aims to provide affordable housing, particularly to urban residents, ensuring better living conditions for economically weaker sections.
Addressing the event, Chief Minister Shri Sai emphasized that the Atal Vihar Yojana is aligned with the state government’s mission to provide housing to the needy.
“Inspired by the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana launched by our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Atal Vihar Yojana ensures concrete homes for homeless families and those living in inadequate housing across cities and development blocks in Chhattisgarh,” he said.
The seven projects, with a combined investment of ₹300 crore, will construct 1,650 houses in Bhurkoni (Raipur), Patharra (Rajim), Khartuli (Dhamtari), Sihad (Dhamtari), Pulgaon (Durg), Gurur (Balod), and Kokdapara (Bijapur). This includes 1,452 homes for the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) and Low-Income Group (LIG) categories and 200 homes for the Middle-Income Group (MIG). To ease the process, beneficiaries can register for homes online via the Housing Board’s website (www.cghb.gov.in).
Subsidies for Affordable Housing
Under the scheme, the state government will offer subsidies of ₹80,000 for EWS homes and ₹40,000 for LIG homes. Additionally, the government is providing land to the Housing Board at a nominal rate of ₹1 per square foot to reduce costs. The Housing Board aims to construct and allocate 50,000 houses under the Atal Vihar Yojana.
Commitment to Quality Housing Across the State
Finance and Housing Minister Shri O.P. Choudhary highlighted the initiative’s inclusivity, stating that housing projects under the scheme will extend to remote areas such as Bijapur as well as urban centers like Raipur.
“We are committed to ensuring high-quality construction and expanding the scheme to all districts,” he said.
The state government recently announced a 100% exemption in diversion fees and penalties for free-hold buildings under the Housing Board, benefiting nearly 80,000 residents.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior officials, including Secretary to the Chief Minister Shri P. Dayanand, Housing and Environment Secretary Shri Ankit Anand, Urban Administration Secretary Shri Basav Raju S., and Housing Board Commissioner Shri Kundan Kumar.
The Atal Vihar Yojana, with its focus on affordable and inclusive housing, stands as a testament to the state government’s commitment to improving living standards across Chhattisgarh.
