Cabinet Appointments Committee approves three-year tenure for Malhotra

TFP Bureau, New Delhi, December 10, 2024: The Government of India has appointed Shri Sanjay Malhotra, currently serving as the Secretary of the Department of Revenue, as the new Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved his appointment for a three-year term, starting from 11 December 2024.

The announcement was made by the Secretariat of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, under the Ministry of Personnel & Training. Malhotra, an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer from the Rajasthan cadre (1990 batch), will take over the role at a crucial time for the central bank.

The decision has been communicated to various departments, including the Prime Minister’s Office and the Cabinet Secretariat, to inform all relevant stakeholders of this significant appointment.
