TFP Bureau, Raipur, December 11, 2024: The Chhattisgarh government is ensuring smooth and efficient paddy procurement across the state under the guidance of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai. The procurement process, which began on November 14, continues without interruption, with significant progress in both the collection and payment to farmers.

As of now, a total of 42.83 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has been procured from farmers, with 9.14 lakh farmers receiving payments amounting to Rs 9,159.61 crore. These payments have been made through the bank-linking system, ensuring transparency and ease for farmers. The paddy procurement campaign is scheduled to continue until January 31, 2025.

Lifting of Paddy and Payment Progress

Along with the procurement, the lifting of paddy by millers has also commenced. A Delivery Order (DO) has been issued for 2.31 lakh metric tonnes of paddy, with 31,000 metric tonnes already lifted. Officials from the Food Department revealed that 27.68 lakh farmers have registered for the current Kharif season, including 1.45 lakh new registrants. This year, the state is expected to procure 160 lakh metric tonnes of paddy through 2,739 procurement centers.

On December 11, 3.34 lakh metric tonnes of paddy was procured from 84,341 farmers, and 94,279 tokens were issued for the next procurement day.

Helpline for Farmers’ Assistance

To further facilitate the process, the state government has set up a helpline number—0771-2425463—for farmers to address complaints and resolve any issues related to paddy procurement. This initiative aims to ensure that farmers’ grievances are quickly and efficiently resolved, enhancing the overall procurement experience.
