TFP Bureau, Raipur, December 13, 2024: Chhattisgarh is poised to become a major industrial hub in India, driven by the state’s new industrial policy, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai announced at the 10th edition of the India Economic Conclave held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. The policy focuses on regional economic development, infrastructure modernization, and job creation, particularly in tribal and backward areas.
Incentives for Industries in Naxal-Affected Regions
A key feature of the policy is its special incentives for industries in Naxal-affected areas, aimed at spurring development in these regions. Chief Minister Sai highlighted that industries employing surrendered Naxals would receive subsidies of up to 40% on salaries, with a cap of Rs 5 lakh per year for five years. This initiative is designed to foster economic growth and social integration in Bastar, where small, medium, and micro industries will benefit from capital investment grants and SGST reimbursements.
Additionally, the state is offering a host of other investment incentives, such as exemptions from stamp duty and electricity duty, as well as the creation of a 118-acre industrial area to support MSMEs. The new Single Window System 2.0 will streamline the clearance process, further enhancing the ease of doing business.
Naya Raipur: A Hub for IT and Infrastructure
Chief Minister Sai also discussed the government’s efforts to develop Naya Raipur into a modern hub for IT, education, and healthcare. The government is providing infrastructure at concessional rates to IT companies, with the goal of generating over 3,500 new jobs in the sector. Additionally, the trial run of the Naya Raipur Atal Nagar railway line has been completed, and the development of key transportation networks, including new railway stations and expanded airports, is underway.
Focus on Transparency and Digital Governance
In line with its commitment to transparency, the state government has implemented several digital governance initiatives. Investments of Rs 266 crore in IT tools are improving administrative accountability, while platforms such as the Atal Monitoring App and Swagatham Portal are enhancing citizen engagement and service delivery.
Infrastructure Development and Rural Water Supply
Infrastructure development is a top priority for the state, with Rs 31,000 crore worth of road projects approved by the central government. Significant progress is also being made in the Jal Jeevan Mission, which aims to provide clean drinking water to every household in Chhattisgarh. The state has already connected 40 lakh households with tap water and is addressing water supply issues in remote villages through the Nal Jal Yojana.
Chhattisgarh’s Vision for Sustainable Growth
Chief Minister Sai concluded by emphasizing that Chhattisgarh’s development is integral to India’s overall economic progress. The state’s focus on infrastructure, digital governance, and investment in key sectors such as manufacturing, education, and healthcare is positioning it as a key contributor to the country’s future growth.
