TFP Bureau, Raipur, January 10, 2025: Chhattisgarh is poised to be the cornerstone of India’s ambitious target of producing 300 million tonnes of steel by 2030, announced Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai at the All India Steel Conclave 2.0 held at the Mayfair Lake Resort, Nava Raipur. Addressing industry leaders and stakeholders, he emphasized the state’s commitment to creating a “developed Chhattisgarh” with strong support for the steel industry.
“We are working with steely willpower to ensure Chhattisgarh takes a leading role in India’s steel production goals. Every entrepreneur in the state must become an ambassador of our development journey, and our government will provide every possible support to elevate the steel sector,” said Shri Sai.
Marking Chhattisgarh’s silver jubilee year, the Chief Minister highlighted the state’s robust position as India’s third-largest steel producer, with abundant reserves of iron ore, coal, and electricity. He also spoke about Chhattisgarh’s foray into green steel, emphasizing the importance of adopting environmentally sustainable practices to tackle climate change while fostering economic growth.
The two-day conclave witnessed the participation of over 1,500 representatives from 17 states, who deliberated on challenges, opportunities, and advancements in the steel sector. Shri Sai expressed confidence that these discussions would pave the way for innovations and investments in Chhattisgarh, ultimately benefiting MSMEs and boosting the state’s industrial ecosystem.
“Chhattisgarh has already laid the foundation for energy minerals like lithium, which will open up new doors of opportunity. Our vision for Single Window System 2.0 and the New Industrial Policy aims to streamline processes and provide an integrated platform for industries, businesses, and startups to thrive,” added Shri Sai.
Commerce and Industry Minister Shri Lakhanlal Dewangan reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fostering a favorable environment for investment through a proactive industrial policy.
“Chhattisgarh, with its abundant mineral resources, offers immense potential for the steel industry. The policies we have introduced will drive growth and create opportunities for both industrialists and local communities,” he stated.
MP Shri Brijmohan Agarwal lauded Chhattisgarh as one of the fastest-developing states, urging industries to balance development with environmental sustainability and contribute to community welfare through CSR initiatives.
Prominent attendees at the conclave included Chief Secretary Shri Subodh Singh, Industry Secretary Shri Rajat Kumar, Bhilai Steel Plant CEO Ajoy Kumar Chakraborty, and industry leaders from the Chhattisgarh Steel Re-Rollers Association (CSRA).
The conclave served as a platform to underscore Chhattisgarh’s vision of becoming a steel powerhouse, highlighting its infrastructure, resources, and commitment to sustainable development.
