CM Shri Vishnudev Sai Highlights Government’s Progress in Empowering Women and Strengthening Local Development; Former Naxals Begin New Lives with Marriage Ceremony

TFP Bureau, Raipur, January 13, 2025: Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai, during his visit to Kondagaon, inaugurated and laid the foundation for 168 development projects worth Rs 288 crore, marking a significant milestone in the region’s growth. Speaking to a large audience, he emphasized the importance of the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, which continues to bring smiles to the faces of women across Chhattisgarh. The scheme, which benefits around 70 lakh women, has not only empowered them financially but also encouraged over 5 lakh women to open savings accounts.

The Chief Minister highlighted that the Mahtari Vandan Yojana was instrumental in fostering economic independence among women, with many using the funds for family welfare, children’s education, and fulfilling personal dreams. “The smiles on the faces of our mothers and sisters when they receive the benefits are the true measure of our government’s success,” he said. He also lauded the government’s initiatives to promote agricultural growth, with over 27 lakh farmers registering for paddy procurement, and the rapid implementation of infrastructure projects like the renovation of Keshkal Valley’s roads, which had previously suffered from neglect.

In addition to development works, CM Sai distributed cheques and materials to beneficiaries in various sectors, including bamboo craft tools under the National Bamboo Mission. The district’s efforts to preserve and promote its cultural heritage were also highlighted, including a collaboration with IIT Bhilai to introduce 3-D printing technology for local artisans.

A New Beginning for Former Naxals in Sukma

During his visit to Sukma, the Chief Minister also witnessed a poignant moment of transformation as four former Naxalites began a new chapter in their lives. Mausam Mahesh, Hemla Munni, Madkam Pandu, and Ravva Bhime, who had abandoned the path of violence and joined the mainstream, tied the knot in a ceremony under the Chief Minister Kanya Vivah Yojana, a welfare initiative aimed at supporting socially disadvantaged communities. The Chief Minister blessed the couples and expressed pride in their decision to embrace peace.

The newlyweds, who had surrendered to the government’s rehabilitation program six months ago, spoke of their regret over their past involvement in violence and expressed their hope for a peaceful future. “We are deeply grateful to the Chhattisgarh government for giving us a second chance at life,” they said. The ceremony in Sukma, once a hub of Maoist activity, was a symbol of the growing peace and development in the region. The Chief Minister praised the success of the Naxal rehabilitation policy, which has enabled many former militants to reintegrate into society and lead productive lives.

The Chief Minister’s visit was attended by several dignitaries, including Industry In-charge Minister Shri Lakhanlal Devangan, Forest Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap, Bastar MP Shri Mahesh Kashyap, and Kanker MP Shri Bhojraj Nag, along with local public representatives and officials.
