Vice President Dhankhar Lauds Youth Empowerment and Development at Guru Ghasidas University Convocation

Chhattisgarh’s youth power recognized as key to the nation’s progress, as new opportunities are created in the state

TFP Bureau, Bilaspur, January 15, 2025: Vice President Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar arrived in Bilaspur today to attend the 11th convocation of Guru Ghasidas Central University, where he was warmly welcomed by Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai. In his address, Vice President Dhankhar highlighted the boundless opportunities available to India’s youth in the new era, urging them to focus on national interest and embrace innovation over traditional career paths.

The convocation ceremony saw 85 medals awarded, including University Gold Medals and Donor Medals, to meritorious students of sessions 2022-23 and 2023-24. Additionally, 122 researchers were conferred PhD degrees. Speaking as the chief guest, Vice President Dhankhar praised the university for its contributions to education and encouraged students to remain resilient, emphasizing that success should be measured by perseverance and learning from failure.

Chhattisgarh’s youth power was also acknowledged by Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai, who remarked that they play a crucial role in the reconstruction of both the state and the nation. He spoke about the significance of Guru Ghasidas University, founded in honor of the saint who symbolized knowledge, inclusivity, and cultural pride. The Chief Minister emphasized the university’s pivotal role in advancing the state’s intellectual growth and assured students that education would be a key driver of positive societal change.

Furthering the vision for the future, Chief Minister Sai announced the state’s new industrial policy, which aims to create 5 lakh new jobs and attract Rs 2.5 lakh crore in investment over the next five years. He also mentioned the establishment of an IT hub in Nava Raipur, creating vast opportunities for Chhattisgarh’s youth in the technology sector.

Addressing the importance of employment, the Chief Minister encouraged students to not just seek jobs, but to innovate and create opportunities for others. He outlined the state’s commitment to improving educational infrastructure and transparency in public services, ensuring that the youth’s aspirations are met with greater resources and opportunities.

In his speech, Governor Mr. Ramen Deka also lauded the achievements of the university and the students, emphasizing the importance of diversity and India’s rich cultural heritage. Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao, Union Minister Shri Tokhan Sahu, and several other dignitaries were present at the ceremony, which celebrated the academic and professional successes of the university’s graduates.

This convocation marks a significant moment for Chhattisgarh, aligning the state’s educational growth with the vision of a developed India, as articulated by Prime Minister Modi. The state’s leaders are confident that the youth, empowered with new opportunities, will play a crucial role in achieving this goal.
